Islamabad, May 14 : Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a three-day official visit to China from May 23 to 26, the government announced, amid strengthening strategic ties between the two close allies.
During the visit, the prime minister is also scheduled to attend a business-to-business (B2B) forum on May 24, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said while speaking at the launch ceremony of the IBI Pakistan Digital Economy Centre.
The upcoming visit follows President Asif Ali Zardari’s trip to China from April 25 to May 1, during which both sides signed multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at expanding cooperation across various sectors.
Pakistan and China will also mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations on May 21, underscoring long-standing political, economic, and defence ties between the two countries.
Bilateral cooperation spans trade, energy, infrastructure, and defence, with Pakistan’s reliance on Chinese military equipment increasing significantly in recent years.
Shehbaz Sharif last visited China in September 2025, when he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
The visit comes amid heightened diplomatic activity in the region, including increased high-level exchanges among global powers.
