Poonch: A 31-year-old Pakistani national was apprehended by Indian Army personnel after allegedly crossing the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Sunday, marking the third such incident reported in the district this month, officials said.
The intruder, identified as Rayees Khan, a resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), was taken into custody in the Balakote sector shortly after he crossed into the Indian side of the LoC.
Officials said no incriminating material was recovered from his possession. He is currently being interrogated to ascertain the motive behind his cross-border movement and to determine whether he had any contacts or specific objectives on the Indian side.
This is the third instance of a Pakistani intruder being apprehended in Poonch this month. On Friday, Mohammad Sajad (26), another resident of PoK, was arrested in the Gulpur area of the Krishna Ghati sector. Earlier, on June 9, Javid Ali (14) was detained after crossing the LoC and was handed back to Pakistan a week later.
Meanwhile, security forces also launched a search operation after a suspected Pakistani drone briefly entered Indian airspace along the International Border in Samba district.
