Leh, May 26 : More than 200 patients from Darchik and adjoining areas availed specialised healthcare services during a mega multi-speciality medical and dental camp organised in the remote border village, bringing advanced medical consultation and treatment facilities closer to residents of the far-flung region.
The outreach initiative witnessed the participation of a 14-member medical team comprising specialists from various disciplines, including Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Gynaecology and Dental care.
Officials associated with the programme said the camp was aimed at improving healthcare accessibility in remote areas of Ladakh where specialised medical facilities remain limited due to geographical isolation and difficult terrain.
During the camp, doctors conducted medical examinations, consultations and treatment for a wide range of ailments, while also providing dental check-ups and health-related guidance to villagers.
Residents from Darchik and nearby villages turned up in large numbers to avail the services, with many beneficiaries describing the initiative as a major relief in areas where access to specialist healthcare often requires long-distance travel.
The camp also focused on early identification of health issues and preventive healthcare awareness, particularly among elderly residents, women and children.
Locals expressed appreciation to the Indian Army for organising the medical outreach programme and providing specialist consultations in the remote village. Residents also voiced hope that similar healthcare initiatives would continue regularly to improve access to quality treatment in border areas of Ladakh.
Officials said such outreach programmes play an important role in bridging healthcare gaps in remote regions while strengthening community welfare and access to essential medical services in high-altitude areas.
