Leh, May 17 : A delegation comprising office-bearers and executives from Nubra district on Saturday met Tashi Gyaltsan Khachu and welcomed the announcement of a new district for Nubra, describing the move as a long-awaited administrative decision expected to improve governance and accelerate developmental activities in the region.

Led by the Nubra District President, the delegation conveyed its appreciation to the BJP leadership, stating that the proposed administrative reorganisation had generated optimism among residents seeking greater accessibility to government services in the remote frontier region.

During the interaction, members of the delegation said the creation of a separate district would help streamline administrative functioning, strengthen institutional outreach and facilitate quicker implementation of public welfare and infrastructure projects. They added that the decision had addressed a longstanding public demand for decentralised governance in Nubra.

The meeting also reviewed the organisational activities of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the district, with discussions focusing on strengthening the party structure at the grassroots level and expanding outreach programmes across Nubra. Leaders exchanged views on mobilising cadre participation and enhancing coordination for upcoming political and public engagement initiatives.

Responding to the delegation, Tashi Gyaltsan Khachu thanked the members for their visit and reiterated the party’s commitment to the welfare and balanced development of all regions of Ladakh.

Political circles in Leh view the announcement of a new district for Nubra as part of a broader administrative push aimed at improving governance in geographically vast and sparsely populated areas of the Union Territory, where demands for greater institutional presence and easier access to official services have continued to gain traction.

The interaction underscored the BJP’s effort to consolidate its organisational base in Nubra while projecting the district announcement as a measure intended to strengthen administrative responsiveness and regional development in Ladakh.
