New Delhi, July 11: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has announced revised retail prices for several essential medicines, including Calcium and Vitamin D3 tablets and Anti-Rabies Immunoglobulin injection, while capping prices of 39 commonly used drugs.
As per NPPA notifications, the retail price of Calcium and Vitamin D3 tablets has been fixed at ₹8.93 per tablet, inclusive of GST. The authority has also revised the price of Anti-Rabies Immunoglobulin injection to ₹119.48 as part of its periodic review to improve affordability and availability of critical medicines.
The regulator has capped the retail prices of 39 medicines used for treating conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic illnesses under the provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013.
NPPA has directed manufacturers, importers and retailers to implement the revised prices immediately and ensure that updated Maximum Retail Prices (MRP) are displayed on medicine packs as per regulations.
The move is aimed at reducing the financial burden on patients and ensuring access to essential healthcare products while maintaining a balance between affordability and industry sustainability.
