Jammu, May 21: The National Highways Authority of India has invited tenders for preparing a Detailed Project Report for the proposed four-lane Katra–Reasi–Mahore–Gulabgarh–Nandimarg–Kulgam highway corridor, which is aimed at improving road connectivity between Jammu and South Kashmir.
According to official documents, the corridor will link NH-44 and pass through several hilly and remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, giving a major boost to the region’s transport infrastructure.
The consultancy tender has been issued by NHAI’s Regional Office in Jammu under reference number JKDIV/14/2025-NHAI-RO Jammu/E 290669. The project covers DPR preparation for the proposed four-laning of the strategic road stretch from Katra to Kulgam.
Officials said the plan is expected to improve inter-regional connectivity, cut travel time and support tourism, trade and economic activity in the mountainous districts along the route.
The highway is also expected to provide better all-weather connectivity to remote areas such as Mahore, Gulabgarh and Nandimarg, which often face road access problems due to difficult terrain and harsh weather.
As per the tender notice, the DPR consultancy will include feasibility studies, traffic surveys, alignment planning, engineering designs and other technical assessments needed for the project.
NHAI has invited bids through an open tender process, and the last date for submission is June 22, 2026.
