SRINAGAR, FEB 13: Jammu & Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar expressed profound grief over the passing of former Minister and senior party leader Qamar Ali Akhoon, terming it an irreplaceable loss for the party and the people of Kargil-Ladakh.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Sagar portrayed Akhoon as a “towering political figure” who dedicated his life to public service, especially uplifting remote Ladakh regions through integrity, simplicity, and unwavering commitment to justice and development.
Recalling a three-decade personal and political bond, Sagar highlighted Akhoon’s exemplary stint as Minister of State in the Public Works Department, where he demonstrated exceptional administrative acumen, honesty, and a people-centric approach—consistently championing infrastructure, education, and welfare for marginalized communities.
“He was a principled, courageous leader who never compromised his values; the void he leaves will be hard to fill, as Kargil-Ladakh loses a true representative attuned to their struggles,” Sagar noted.
On behalf of NC’s leadership and workers, he extended deepest sympathies to Akhoon’s family, praying for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved.
Akhoon, Additional General Secretary since 2023, represented Kargil in the erstwhile J&K Assembly and served as Cabinet Minister, leaving a legacy of tireless advocacy after prolonged illness.
