LEH: MY Bharat Ladakh on Thursday organised a plantation drive at the premises of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) 5th Battalion as part of the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Veer Ke Naam’ campaign, combining environmental conservation efforts with a tribute to the service and sacrifice of the country’s armed forces personnel.

The programme was conducted under the Viksit Bharat Vibrant Village Programme under the leadership of State Director, MY Bharat, UT Ladakh, Tajamul Ara.

Around 40 students selected for the Viksit Bharat Vibrant Village Quiz Programme from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Delhi participated in the plantation drive alongside ITBP personnel, MY Bharat volunteers and mentors accompanying the student delegation.

Organisers said the initiative was aimed at promoting environmental responsibility while recognising the dedication and commitment of the nation’s soldiers through symbolic tree plantation activities.

The campaign forms part of a broader nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, which seeks to encourage public participation in environmental protection while fostering a sense of gratitude towards members of the armed forces.

During the programme, participants planted saplings within the ITBP campus and were sensitised to the importance of ecological conservation and sustainable development. The activity also provided an opportunity for students from different parts of the country to engage with personnel serving in border areas and gain insight into their contribution to national security.

Officials said the plantation drive reflected the twin objectives of honouring the unwavering service of the country’s brave soldiers and strengthening collective commitment towards a greener and more sustainable future.

The event concluded with participants reaffirming their resolve to contribute towards environmental protection and nation-building through responsible civic engagement.
