New Delhi, Apr 19 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused opposition parties like Congress, DMK, TMC, and Samajwadi Party of “mercilessly crushing” women’s dreams by defeating the women’s reservation bill in Lok Sabha, despite the government’s efforts.
Addressing the nation a day after the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’s defeat, Modi said their self-serving politics denied 33% reservation to women in legislatures. “I seek forgiveness from all women of the country,” he stated.
He charged that these parties took women’s power for granted, halted their march, and insulted the Constitution. “The opposition has committed a sin… they will surely be punished,” Modi added, slamming family-run parties for fearing women’s progress.
Modi accused Congress of divisive North-South rhetoric and past opposition to nation-building. “A woman forgets everything, but not her insult; this will always remain in every woman’s heart,” he said, calling the bill essential for balanced empowerment across India.
