Jammu, Apr 7 : J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said modern court infrastructure is key to ensuring efficient justice delivery and strengthening public trust in the legal system.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review the progress of construction of High Court complexes in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar, he reiterated his government’s commitment to augmenting judicial infrastructure and institutional capacity in both divisions.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and representatives of National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC), among others, an official spokesperson said.
Emphasising time-bound completion and inter-departmental coordination, Abdullah called for early grant of administrative approval for the Jammu wing at Raika.
“The modern court infrastructure is essential for efficient justice delivery and public trust in the legal system,” the chief minister said and directed officials to ensure adherence to timelines, quality benchmarks and transparency in execution.
The project, being executed by NBCC, involves the relocation of the existing High Court from Janipur to a purpose-built campus at Raika in Jammu, envisioned as a modern, integrated judicial complex.
A detailed presentation outlining the key aspects of the project was delivered in the meeting, where NBCC officials informed that the project is being executed in multiple phases to ensure structured development and optimal resource utilisation.
The chief minister also reviewed proposals for the redevelopment of the Lower Court Complex in Srinagar, the spokesperson added.
