New Delhi, Apr 17: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that 2,361 Indians, including 1,041 students, have been safely evacuated from Iran since the onset of the West Asia conflict.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made the announcement, highlighting the government’s sustained efforts to ensure the safe return of Indian nationals caught in the region amid escalating tensions. The evacuation drive, which began after the conflict erupted on February 28, has prioritized students and vulnerable groups, with continuous coordination between Indian diplomatic missions, security agencies, and host nations.
The spokesperson emphasized that the operation remains ongoing, with the government committed to bringing back all remaining Indians safely. The successful evacuation underscores India’s robust consular response and priority on citizen safety during global crises.
