JAMMU, Apr 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today launched the Drug-Free Jammu Kashmir Campaign in Doda, urging citizens to unite against narcotics in a powerful people’s movement.
Addressing a large gathering, Sinha declared narcotics smuggling a form of “silent terrorism” that devastates youth, families, and society. “Drug traffickers will face the same stringent laws as terrorists—they are enemies of our youth and humanity,” he asserted, pledging to identify and jail every smuggler, peddler, and syndicate member. “We will not rest until these poison networks are dismantled,” he added.
With 80 days left in the 100-day drive, Sinha stressed the need for Jan-Andolan and Jan-Bhagidari. “This fight demands a mindset shift—drug abuse thrives on indifference. Every citizen, school, college, social group, and media outlet must join,” he said. He highlighted recent progress: 350 FIRs and 440 arrests in the last 20 days, fueled by public support.
“Let’s make J&K a drug-free beacon for India,” Sinha concluded, calling for vigilant communities to resist this hidden threat.
