JAMMU, JAN 17: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the two-day ‘National Level Sports Conference – SRIJAN’ organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, emphasizing sports’ role in youth development while urging strict separation from political interference.
In his keynote address, Sinha highlighted integrating sports with education and life skills to foster holistic growth. “Sports teaches discipline, leadership, and values through real experience—it’s a powerful tool for nation-building and social progress,” he stated, advocating state-of-the-art infrastructure at grassroots levels.
The LG stressed creating transparent selection processes free from doubt, prioritizing women and youth participation, and developing strategic plans for international excellence. He commended the conference for strengthening J&K Sports Policy 2022 and National Sports Policy 2025 implementation.
Attendees included Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari, and sports authorities. Sinha urged policymakers to invest in sports as a pathway to disciplined citizens and community integration.
The event aims to craft actionable strategies for resilient sports systems and future-ready talent development across Jammu and Kashmir.
