LEH, Jun 2 : Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh inaugurated and dedicated 15 Common Facility Centres (CFCs) across the Union Territory, describing the initiative as a major step towards strengthening self-reliant villages and empowering rural communities.
The newly established centres are located at Skurbuchan, Wanla, Saspol, Chuchot, Kharu, Anlay, Koyul, Korzok, Chushul, Phobrang, Sato, Panamik, Diskit, Turtuk and Digger.
Designed as shared workspaces for weavers, spinners, tailors, artisans and women Self-Help Groups (SHGs), the centres are equipped with modern facilities to support the production of high-quality handloom and handicraft products.
The LG said the CFCs would promote local entrepreneurship, skill development and self-employment while creating new livelihood opportunities for women and youth within their villages. The initiative is also expected to encourage micro-enterprises, reduce migration and strengthen the rural economy.
He added that the centres are envisioned not only as production units but also as hubs of community participation, rural development and economic empowerment. The facilities will help preserve Ladakh’s rich handloom heritage while enabling local products to access national and international markets.
