Islamabad, Apr 16 : Amir Hamza, a founding member of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot by unknown gunmen outside a news channel office in Lahore today and is now in critical condition in a hospital.
This marks the second assassination attempt on Hamza in less than a year. In May last year, unidentified attackers fired at him outside his Lahore residence, after which Pakistani authorities reportedly enhanced his security without commenting publicly on the incident.
Who Is Amir Hamza?
Hamza is regarded as a top LeT ideologue instrumental in shaping the group’s propaganda and outreach. Despite reportedly distancing himself from LeT in 2018 following Pakistan’s crackdown on its charity funding channels, he continued funding terror operations including in Jammu and Kashmir through his splinter group.
