


Leh, Sept 21: The Directorate of AYUSH, UT Ladakh, has launched a comprehensive women’s health and nutrition initiative through the observance of “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Bharat” from September 17 to October 2, alongside “Poshan Maah – 2025,” running until October 16. The programmes aim to enhance women’s health, promote nutrition, and extend healthcare services across the region.
As part of the initiative, the National AYUSH Mission – UT Ladakh, in collaboration with SPOSPA Foundation and the Ladakh Nuns Association, is conducting a series of outreach activities, health awareness programmes, and free medical camps from September 21 to October 17. The programmes cover Leh and Kargil, reaching institutions such as EJM College, TCV School, Mahabodhi School, Imamiya Mission School, Riglam School, and various government schools. In Kargil, health camps and awareness drives will focus on women-centric care through the support of Rzamba.
The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan was formally inaugurated today at PHC Chuchot by Chuchot Councillor Mirza Hussain, in the presence of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dolma Choskit and Block Medical Officer Dr. Norboo Angchok. The initiative provides accessible, comprehensive healthcare services at the community level, with a focus on preventive and curative interventions for women.
Specialist services during the programme included gynecology, ophthalmology, ENT, pediatrics, and dental care. The medical team, comprising Dr. Savita, Dr. Tsultim, Dr. Dawa, Dr. Zahid Hassan, Dr. Fayaz, Dr. Imran, Dr. Kunzes, and Dr. Tsering Angchok, conducted screenings for non-communicable diseases, antenatal check-ups for expectant mothers, and other essential health services.
Simultaneous health activities were organized at sub-centres across Leh block, extending the reach of the initiative to rural and remote communities. Officials stressed that the programme reflects the Health Department’s ongoing commitment to raising awareness on preventive care, early detection, and timely treatment of health conditions.
