Kargil, Oct 07: In a significant breakthrough, the District Police Kargil has successfully cracked the monastery theft case under Police Station Zanskar after sustained and coordinated efforts.
The police team apprehended the accused person from Batote, Jammu & Kashmir, marking a major success in the investigation of the case that had caused widespread concern among local communities and monastery authorities.
According to the official statement, the arrest was made following meticulous investigation and persistent follow-up by the Kargil Police, which tracked down the suspect’s movements across different locations before apprehending him in Batote.
During the operation, police also recovered some of the stolen property from the accused’s possession, believed to belong to the monastery.
The theft case, registered at Police Station Zanskar, had drawn public attention due to the religious and cultural significance of the stolen artifacts.
Police sources confirmed that efforts are underway to trace and recover the remaining items, which may include precious religious articles and monastery assets.
The local monastery administration and residents of Zanskar have expressed gratitude to the police department for the prompt action and commitment shown in solving the case.
