Khaltse, Apr 17: The administration in Khaltse Sub-Division on Wednesday conducted a multi-department public outreach programme at Fotoksar village, delivering a range of government services at the doorstep of residents while identifying land for essential local infrastructure.
The “Jung-sJabs” outreach, chaired by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Khaltse, Mohd Sharif, brought together officials from key departments, including revenue, public works, irrigation, rural development, health, agriculture, and banking, in an effort to improve last-mile governance in one of Ladakh’s remote habitations.
During the programme, land was identified for the construction of a ration store and an animal sub-centre, addressing long-standing local requirements. The SDM, who also visited the Government Middle School and the Anganwadi Centre in the village, reviewed facilities and assessed developmental needs on the ground.
Officials engaged directly with residents, registering grievances and providing on-the-spot services. The Revenue Department presented digitised land record maps and read out details of individual landholders under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme, while issuing Ladakh Resident Certificates along with electoral and revenue extracts.
Healthcare services were extended through screenings for non-communicable diseases, alongside facilitation of ABHA ID creation and linking of PMJAY cards to eligible beneficiaries. Banking services were also made available, with the opening of savings and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts, in addition to Aadhaar updation for residents.
Addressing the gathering, the SDM underlined the objective of the outreach initiative as improving administrative accessibility and ensuring effective delivery of government schemes. He also monitored the performance of departments during the camp and took note of public feedback.
The programme saw participation from Naib Tehsildar Wanla, Phuntsog Namgail, Assistant Executive Engineers of R&B and I&FC, the Block Development Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Block Veterinary Officer, SBI Branch Manager, Junior Engineers from PDD and PHE, and officials from multiple line departments.
The outreach reflects an ongoing administrative effort to bridge service delivery gaps in remote areas, where geographical isolation often limits access to essential public services.
