Jammu: A senior police officer reviewed security in J&K’s border districts of Kathua and Samba on Wednesday, directing heightened vigilance and extra troop deployments in vulnerable zones.
Deputy Inspector General Shiv Kumar Sharma, with SSPs Mohita Sharma (Kathua) and Varinder Manhas (Samba), assessed arrangements in Billawar, Kathua, post a Monday gunfight in Udhampur’s Soan that killed a policeman; he also inspected Kamla Top.
Sharma stressed inter-agency coordination, boosted force presence in sensitive areas, enhanced intelligence sharing, and increased patrols with high visibility to preempt threats and maintain peace.
SSP Kathua updated on local measures, while Sharma convened a joint meeting with Army officials to strengthen overall security grid amid recent challenges.
