JAMMU, FEB 18: Jammu and Kashmir has raised the maximum Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity (DCRG) limit for regular employees under the 7th Pay Commission from ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh, kicking in automatically from January 1, 2024, when Dearness Allowance hit 50% of basic pay.
The Finance Department’s clarification circular—triggered by queries post the May 2024 DA order—points to Note 8 under Article 240-BB of J&K Civil Service Regulations (added via SRO-194 in 2018). It mandates a 25% ceiling hike whenever DA rises by 50%, aligning with central government norms recommended by the 7th CPC.
Principal Secretary Finance examined the requests and confirmed the enhancement applies prospectively from that key date, easing financial security for retirees and families. This comes amid broader employee welfare pushes, subject to all prior rules on eligibility, service tenure, and nomination processes—meaning no one gets shortchanged on well-deserved benefits after years of public service.
