New Delhi, Feb 1: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an allocation of over Rs 43,290 crore for Jammu and Kashmir in the Union Budget 2026-27, marking a 4.72% increase from the current fiscal year.
The budget documents reveal that total transfers to the Union Territory have been set at Rs 43,290.29 crore, compared to Rs 41,340.22 crore in the 2025-26 Revised Estimates (RE).
The Central Assistance to the Union Territory saw a significant boost of Rs 2,030.97 crore—rising from Rs 40,619.30 crore in 2025-26 to Rs 42,650.27 crore in 2026-27, representing a 5% increase.
Funding increased substantially by 39.9%, from Rs 185.34 crore to Rs 259.25 crore
Maintained at Rs 279 crore, unchanged from 2025-26
Retained at Rs 101.77 crore for the upcoming fiscal year
The enhanced allocation reflects the Centre’s continued focus on infrastructure development and disaster management in the Union Territory.
