“Mission YUVA is a Chance to Transform Lives,” says CEO Amitava Chatterjee
Srinagar, Jul 04: In a major move to support youth empowerment and job creation, J&K Bank has rolled out a 45-day campaign titled YUVA Udaan across all its zones in Jammu and Kashmir. The campaign is part of the government-backed Mission YUVA, which aims to help unemployed youth set up their own ventures.
The campaign was formally launched at the Bank’s corporate headquarters by Managing Director and CEO Amitava Chatterjee. Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, senior officials, and regional heads attended the event both in person and virtually.
During his address, Chatterjee emphasized the need for urgency and compassion in implementing the campaign. He noted that in his 37 years of banking experience, he had not witnessed such thorough preparation and genuine intent behind a government initiative. “This is not just a scheme. It’s a chance to change lives,” he said.
He urged staff to act swiftly in identifying and supporting eligible applicants. “We are mobilizing our entire branch network to ensure no deserving youth is left behind,” Chatterjee added. He described YUVA Udaan as an opportunity for youth to gain financial independence and contribute to the region’s economy with dignity.
Executive Director Sudhir Gupta also called on teams to commit fully to the campaign. “Let us approach this task with full seriousness. The success of this campaign depends on how well we follow up each case, from screening to disbursal,” he said.
General Manager Ashutosh Sareen described YUVA Udaan as a platform for real change at the grassroots level, turning job seekers into job creators. DGM Rakesh Magotra shared campaign goals and highlighted specific schemes developed under Mission YUVA.
As part of the campaign, branches have been directed to identify eligible applicants and support them throughout the loan process. Outreach activities, including credit camps and awareness drives, will be organized to connect with local communities.
With Mission YUVA, the J&K Government aims to help establish 137,000 enterprises, creating jobs for around 425,000 youth. Through YUVA Udaan, J&K Bank hopes to speed up this effort by becoming a strong financial partner in the mission.
The campaign is expected to bring meaningful progress to youth-led entrepreneurship and boost economic activity across the Union Territory.
