Srinagar, Dec 23: In a timely relief to families facing personal loss, Jammu and Kashmir Bank has facilitated the settlement of insurance claims amounting to Rs 1.94 crore in Anantnag district, bringing financial support to 38 families of deceased borrowers.
The claims were settled under the Bank’s MetLoan & Life Suraksha (MLLS) insurance cover, ensuring that outstanding loan liabilities of the deceased were cleared without passing the burden on their families.
A brief ceremony was held in Anantnag where a symbolic cheque representing the total disbursed amount was presented. The event was attended by the Bank’s Zonal Head (Anantnag) Khavar Mehraj Handoo, senior officials of PNB MetLife, and branch-level officers from the concerned areas.
Among those present were Cluster Head (Anantnag) Masood Ahmad Lankar, In-charge Credit Showkat Ahmad Naikoo, Zonal Insurance Coordinator Mohammad Naveed Keen, branch heads, and managers handling advances. Senior representatives from the insurance company, including regional officials, also participated.
Families who received the claim settlements expressed appreciation for the prompt handling of the process. One beneficiary said the settlement helped the family cope with financial pressure at a time of emotional distress, adding that the insured loan ensured they were not left with repayment responsibilities.
Addressing the gathering, Zonal Head Khavar Mehraj Handoo said loan insurance plays a crucial role in protecting families during unforeseen situations. He noted that covering borrowings under insurance schemes helps prevent financial hardship for dependents if a borrower passes away.
PNB MetLife’s Associate Director and Head, Irfan Ali Zargar, said every settled claim reflects the responsibility carried by insurers towards customers and their families. He stated that honouring commitments during difficult times remains central to the company’s work.
The Bank continues to organise such interactions to underline its focus on customer welfare and to reinforce confidence among borrowers across its areas of operation.
