Jammu, October 6: Jammu Police has solved a house burglary case within hours of its reporting, arresting the accused and recovering stolen gold ornaments worth approximately ₹15 lakh, police said.
The case came to light after Police Post Gadigarh received a complaint from a resident of Banyan Enclave, Babliyana, who reported that an unidentified person had allegedly broken into his house and stolen gold ornaments weighing around 9.5 to 10 tolas.
Following the complaint, FIR No. 306/2026 was registered at Police Station Satwari under Sections 305 and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation was launched.
Acting swiftly under the supervision of SP City South Jammu, a team from Police Post Gadigarh used technical and human intelligence to identify and apprehend the accused.
The accused has been identified as Mukesh Kumar, son of Subash Chander, a resident of Sector 6, Gangyal, and currently residing at Baba Farid Nagar, Seora.
Stolen Gold Recovered
Police said the following gold ornaments were recovered from the accused:
One gold necklace set with two danglers
One Inam gold set
One gold mangalsutra
One gold cocktail ring
Three gold tops
One gold ring
Two gold bangles
The recovered ornaments weigh approximately 9.5 to 10 tolas and have an estimated value of ₹15 lakh. The complainant has identified the recovered jewellery as his stolen property.
The accused is being questioned, while further investigation is underway to determine whether he is linked to any other similar burglary cases.
Jammu Police has appealed to residents to ensure that their homes and valuables are properly secured when leaving them unattended. People have also been advised to immediately report any suspicious person or activity to the nearest police station or through 112.
