New Delhi, March 13: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar connected with Indonesia’s Sugiono on Thursday as India intensifies diplomacy to handle the West Asia crisis rippling through global energy markets.
The call capped a week of outreach, with Jaishankar also speaking to his counterparts from Iran, Russia, Germany, and South Korea amid Iran-US-Israel tensions. “Exchanged views on West Asia, bilateral ties, and agreed to an early Joint Commission meeting,” Jaishankar posted on social media.
Sugiono called it “productive,” committing to closer coordination on regional issues and boosting cooperation soon.
Iran’s near-blockade of the Strait of Hormuz—handling 20% of world oil and LNG—has sent prices soaring, hitting everyone hard.
