Leh, Sept 27: In a bid to promote inclusivity, equality, and awareness within the force, a Gender Sensitisation Workshop was organised at the NW Frontier ITBP Headquarters, Leh. The initiative sought to create a deeper understanding of gender-related issues and foster a respectful and sensitive work environment across the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation, with around 767 personnel from under-command units, including those posted at remote Border Out Posts (BOPs), joining the interactive and informative sessions.

Resource persons highlighted the importance of gender sensitivity in day-to-day professional and personal interactions, stressing that awareness of gender issues is essential not only for maintaining harmony within the organisation but also for strengthening community engagement in the border regions where ITBP personnel serve.

The sessions focused on key themes such as gender equality, prevention of workplace harassment, respectful communication, and the role of men and women in building an inclusive force. Through case studies, discussions, and interactive exercises, participants were encouraged to reflect on their responsibilities as members of a disciplined organisation that upholds the highest standards of conduct.

Senior ITBP officials emphasised that such initiatives are crucial in shaping a modern and progressive paramilitary force that remains sensitive to social changes while staying committed to its operational duties. They noted that the large-scale participation of personnel, including those serving in far-flung areas, reflected the seriousness with which the force views this subject.

The successful conduct of the workshop reinforced ITBP’s commitment to professionalism, inclusivity, and gender equity, aligning with national efforts to empower all sections of society.
