Islamabad, Apr 9: Pakistan’s capital is on high alert as the country prepares to host high‑stakes in‑person talks between the United States and Iran on Friday, aimed at consolidating a fragile two‑week ceasefire and preventing further escalation in West Asia.
The US and Iran agreed to the conditional ceasefire on Wednesday, paving the way for direct negotiations in Islamabad to address outstanding differences and turn the temporary truce into a lasting peace. Delegations from both sides are expected to arrive in the city as tight security measures are put in place to ensure the success of the talks.
