Leh/Ahmedabad, Jan 12: The proposed Mahakaruna Vishwa Vidyapeetham emerged at the centre of discussions on Monday as Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena called on Indus University, Ahmedabad, to advance collaboration on a compassion-focused model of higher learning.
Ven. Sanghasena held a detailed interaction with Dr. Nagesh Bhandari, Founder of Indus University, accompanied by senior academic representatives. The dialogue revolved around shaping a university built on the twin pillars of scholarly pursuit and humane values—aimed at nurturing learners who balance intellect with responsibility toward society.
Among the main themes was the potential roll-out of online programmes rooted in the teachings of Mahakaruna, designed to make courses accessible worldwide. The format, both sides noted, could allow students across continents to engage with lessons on empathy, ethical leadership, and public welfare—timely concerns in an increasingly polarised world.
Broader global questions also entered the conversation, including conflict, social fragmentation and the need for collective responses to escalating challenges. Participants agreed that classrooms, curricula, and educators have a crucial role in shaping communities capable of cooperation rather than confrontation. Following the meeting, Dr. Bhandari led Ven. Sanghasena around the Indus University campus, showcasing laboratories, research clusters, academic buildings and ongoing development works. Ven. Sanghasena expressed appreciation for the institution’s growth trajectory and its orientation toward applied learning and innovation.
