New Delhi, Feb 28: India has urged its citizens in Israel to “exercise utmost caution and remain vigilant” after Israel, with US backing, launched pre‑emptive strikes on Iran, including parts of Tehran reportedly close to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s offices. The advisory was issued by the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv, warning Indians to follow all safety guidelines and local alerts, and to avoid non‑essential travel in the country.
The strike triggered a nationwide state of emergency in Israel, accompanied by air‑raid sirens and an immediate closure of Israeli airspace to civilian flights. Iranian authorities, in turn, shut down their airspace and confirmed multiple explosions in and around Tehran, with reports also emerging from other cities such as Karaj and Tabriz.
The attacks come amid a breakdown in US–Iran nuclear talks and a broader military build‑up by the US in the region under President Donald Trump. With regional tensions surging and fears of retaliatory missile and drone attacks, India has stepped up diplomatic coordination and helpline support for its nationals in the Middle East, while airlines worldwide monitor rerouting options around Iran and Iraq.
