KAKAMIGAHARA (JAPAN), Sept 26: Defending champions India secured a place in the semifinals of the Asian Games men’s hockey competition after defeating hosts Japan 2-0 in a closely contested Pool A match on Saturday.
The victory marked India’s fourth consecutive win in the tournament, keeping their unbeaten run intact.
India had earlier registered dominant victories over Indonesia (13-1), Sri Lanka (16-1) and South Korea (8-2) in their opening three pool matches.
The Indian team will face Bangladesh in its final Pool A match on September 28.
