Leh, Apr 15 : A series of awareness programmes focusing on maternal and child health marked the observance of Poshan Pakhwada across parts of Leh district, with outreach activities held at the grassroots level to promote better nutrition and healthcare practices.
At the Anganwadi Centre in Chemday Peu under ICDS Project Kharu, a dedicated session for pregnant and lactating women was conducted, highlighting both preventive and curative aspects of healthcare. The session, led by a medical professional, centred on antenatal and postnatal care, along with broader health education aimed at improving outcomes for mothers and children.
Officials associated with the programme, including the Block Coordinator, ICDS Supervisor, and a pharmacist from the Health Department, addressed the gathering and underlined the importance of sustained awareness and timely medical intervention.
Meanwhile, in the Khaltse sub-division, Poshan Pakhwada was formally launched with a rally aimed at spreading awareness about proper nutrition within the community. The initiative forms part of a wider campaign scheduled from April 9 to April 23, during which all Anganwadi Centres across the sub-division will host activities to engage local residents.
The launch also coincided with participation in a video conference organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development as part of the nationwide rollout of the programme.
Addressing Anganwadi workers and participants, Child Development Project Officer Khaltse, Shakila Bano, outlined the objectives of the campaign and stressed the role of community involvement in addressing nutritional challenges.
