New Delhi, Jul 24: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made a strong allegation against the Election Commission of India (ECI), claiming that his party has “100 per cent concrete proof” that electoral fraud was allowed in a constituency in Karnataka. Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Gandhi warned that the poll body will not be allowed to escape scrutiny or consequences.
Gandhi accused the Election Commission of failing in its constitutional duty, saying it is not functioning as an impartial body. He said that a detailed examination of just one constituency revealed widespread voter irregularities. These include mass addition of new voters reportedly aged 45 to 65, unexplained deletions, and suspicious entries well beyond the age of 18—indicating a broader manipulation strategy.
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha emphasized that the evidence his party holds is beyond doubt. He stated that it is not a matter of 90 per cent probability, but absolute certainty, and that they will soon reveal the proof publicly. Gandhi expressed confidence that similar fraudulent patterns are likely being replicated across multiple constituencies.
He issued a direct warning to the Election Commission and its officials, asserting that if they believe they can escape accountability, they are mistaken. “We are going to come for you,” he declared, highlighting the party’s intent to pursue the issue vigorously.
The allegations come amid political uproar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. During this exercise, over 52 lakh voters were reportedly found missing from their registered addresses, raising alarm among opposition parties. The Congress and other opposition groups have alleged that this is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise voters ahead of the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks follow his broader claim that elections in India are being systematically “stolen.” He promised to present documented proof of what he calls the “modus operandi of vote theft” and said the party will not allow democratic processes to be undermined.
