Srinagar, Jul 26: In an effort to enhance transparency and improve patient care, the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has made it compulsory for all doctors and paramedics in government healthcare facilities to wear white aprons and display nameplates during duty hours.
This directive, issued by Secretary to the Government Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, comes in response to repeated observations that many healthcare workers were not following the standard dress code. This lack of compliance has often led to confusion among patients trying to identify medical professionals.
The circular clarifies that the rule applies to all doctors, including those serving under the National Health Mission (NHM) and Ayush services, as well as all paramedical staff. Each staff member must wear a clearly visible nameplate showing their full name and designation, along with the official white apron.
To ensure consistent implementation, the government has directed all Heads of Institutions, Medical Superintendents, and Chief Medical Officers to strictly enforce the order across Jammu and Kashmir.
