Sankoo, Sept 23: Government Degree College Sankoo hosted an awareness program on menstrual health and hygiene today, drawing attention to the importance of safe and sustainable practices among young women. The event was held at the college campus exclusively for female students.
The session was held under the guidance of Dr. Salim Ahmad, Nodal Officer of the institution. Delivering the lecture, Dr. Nasreen, a well-known gynaecologist, urged students to view menstrual health as an integral part of women’s overall well-being. She spoke at length about personal hygiene and the need to challenge social taboos linked with menstruation.
Dr. Nasreen also introduced students to the use of menstrual cups, pointing out their benefits in terms of reusability, affordability, and eco-friendliness. She carefully addressed prevailing misconceptions, clarifying doubts and encouraging students to consider healthier alternatives.
The program was coordinated by librarian Farida Banoo, who also serves as co-convener of the Cultural and Seminar Committee. Students actively participated in the interactive session, making the program a noteworthy step toward awareness and empowerment on campus.
