Drass, Oct 07: Six people, including five Army personnel on leave, were injured when a Kargil-registered Xylo vehicle skidded off the road at Kushal Mod in Menamarg while travelling from Drass to Srinagar on Monday.
The injured have been identified as driver Baqir Ali, son of Asgar Ali, resident of Trespone, and passengers Gurvindar Singh, son of Parkash Singh from Gurdaspur, Punjab; Harpreet Singh, son of Karnal Singh from Punjab; Mohd. Sajid, son of Mohd. Baichu from Balyare, Uttar Pradesh; Abhishek Kumar, son of Bhaisian Kacchi from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh; and Vijay Kushava, son of Amar Chandra from Jahari, Uttar Pradesh.
Police said all five passengers were Army jawans returning home on leave.
Local police and rescue teams from Drass reached the spot soon after the accident and shifted the injured to a nearby medical facility. Their condition is stated to be stable, and no casualties have been reported so far, officials confirmed.
The cause of the mishap is yet to be ascertained.
Drass Police have registered a case under FIR No. 65/2025 under sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Drass, and further investigation is underway.
