Leh, Sept 04: Teachers’ Day was observed with fervour at the School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SAS&T), Leh Campus, University of Ladakh, where students of B.Sc. Agriculture and Basic Agriculture Training (BAT) trainees organised a vibrant programme dedicated to honouring the teaching fraternity.
The proceedings commenced with spirited anchoring by Ms. Padma Lanzes, a B.Sc. Agriculture student, setting a lively tone for the celebration. A series of cultural presentations followed, featuring energetic dance and creative performances by students. Adding a distinct charm to the event, faculty members actively joined in, showcasing their talents on stage and receiving warm applause from the audience.
A special attraction of the occasion was the selection of “Mr. and Miss Teachers’ Day.” On the basis of attire and stage performance, the titles were conferred upon Dr. Kunzes Angmo and Dr. Thinlas Nurbu, both Assistant Professors, who were felicitated as Mrs. and Mr. Teachers’ Day respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anwar Hussain, Coordinator of B.Sc. Agriculture, congratulated the students for planning and executing the event within a short span of time. He remarked that the programme was the first initiative of its kind by the students, reflecting their commitment and organisational capacity.
Prof. Dorjay Namgyal, Associate Director, delivered an address highlighting the value of Teachers’ Day in the academic sphere. He underlined the importance of respecting teachers and acknowledging their role in shaping society, while also commending the student community for orchestrating the celebration with thought and dedication.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Tashi Dolkar, a BAT trainee, who expressed appreciation to faculty, students, and attendees for their wholehearted participation in making the event memorable.
The day’s celebration at SAS&T, Leh Campus, stood as a reflection of mutual respect between students and teachers, fostering a spirit of gratitude and camaraderie within the academic environment.
