Leh, Sept 09: The NSS unit of Eliezer Jolden Memorial College has completed the second phase of student selection for the upcoming India-Bhutan Youth Summit scheduled to take place in Bhutan from October 25 to November 2.
Ten students, earlier shortlisted during the first round held on September 1, engaged in an animated discussion on Indo-Bhutan relations. The deliberations covered a wide spectrum of issues ranging from educational exchange and sustainability to cooperation in energy and security, reflecting the depth of bilateral engagement between the two neighbours.
Following a rigorous evaluation of oratory skills, subject knowledge, confidence and fluency, two students emerged successful. Kunzang Lhadon and Stanzin Dechen, both pursuing their first semester at the college, will now represent the institution. Their names have been forwarded to the Centre for Escalation of Peace (CEP), which will carry out the final round of selection.
The event was adjudicated by a panel of seven faculty members, including the NSS Programme Officer, who commended the spirited participation of the students.
The India-Bhutan Youth Summit, held annually, serves as a platform to strengthen people-to-people ties and foster greater understanding among young minds from both countries.
