Leh, Apr 1: In an outreach aimed at strengthening scientific engagement among students, the Union Territory administration of Ladakh has announced an interactive session with astronaut Subhanshu Shukla, providing young learners an opportunity to engage with a practitioner of space science.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Chief Secretary Ashish Kunda, who highlighted the initiative as an avenue for students to gain exposure beyond conventional classroom settings. In a post on X, he described the interaction as “a once in a lifetime opportunity for youngsters of Ladakh to meet and interact with someone who has literally touched the stars.” He also credited Secretary Education Bhanu Prabha for conceiving the programme, noting that it seeks to facilitate an exchange of ideas between students and the astronaut.
The session is scheduled to take place at EJM College, Leh, on April 1 at 11:00 AM. Officials indicated that the programme has been structured as an interactive engagement, allowing students to participate in discussions and seek insights into the academic pathways, professional challenges, and experiences associated with space exploration.
The initiative forms part of a broader administrative effort to bridge geographical constraints by connecting students in remote regions with individuals working at the frontiers of science and technology. By enabling direct interaction with an astronaut, the administration aims to cultivate scientific temper and encourage students to consider careers in research and innovation.
Educational institutions across Leh have been advised to facilitate student participation, reflecting a continued emphasis on experiential learning and exposure-driven pedagogy.
