Leh, Apr 17: Cadets of the NCC Unit at EJM College Leh were honoured, ranks were conferred, and outgoing members bid farewell at a combined ceremony held on campus on Friday, attended by senior academic and defence officials.
The event, which brought together freshers’ induction, farewell proceedings, rank conferment and felicitation, was presided over by Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh. The function was attended by Guest of Honour Dr. Tswang Mutup, Lt Col Randeer Singh of the 1 Ladakh Battalion NCC, Dr. Samina Iqbal, and Principal Prof. Stanzin Yangdol.
In his address, Prof. Kushwaha commended the cadets for their discipline and commitment, urging them to pursue excellence across fields while upholding the values instilled through NCC training.
A key feature of the programme was the felicitation of cadets selected for the Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2025 and 2026, along with those who participated in the Mount Everest Expedition. The Rank Conferment Ceremony saw cadets being elevated in recognition of leadership and service, while others were acknowledged for successfully completing their B and C Certificates.
The proceedings began with a welcome address by Dr. Ujwala Koche, followed by a presentation highlighting the achievements and activities of the unit. Cultural performances by cadets added a ceremonial dimension to the event, reflecting both training and talent.
Earlier, a two-minute silence was observed in memory of Colonel Sonam Wangchuk, marking a moment of tribute during the proceedings.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and a cake-cutting segment, symbolising both the induction of new cadets and the departure of the outgoing batch, as the NCC unit marked another cycle of training, recognition and transition.
