LEH: The Socio Club of EJM College Leh organised an awareness campaign on healthy lifestyle and balanced dietary practices for faculty members and non-teaching staff, with experts advocating informed food choices, nutritional awareness and digital well-being as essential components of a healthier society.

Held at the college’s Conference Hall, the programme sought to promote awareness about proper nutrition, balanced dietary habits and overall wellness among members of the college community. The initiative comes amid growing concerns over changing food consumption patterns and lifestyle-related health challenges.

Delivering an expert session, Dr. Samina Rehman underscored the importance of balanced nutrition and highlighted the health benefits of traditional Ladakhi foods. She stressed that indigenous food practices not only contribute to better health outcomes but also help preserve the region’s rich culinary heritage. Drawing attention to the increasing popularity of cafés and fast-food culture in Ladakh, she encouraged participants to make conscious dietary choices and adopt sustainable eating habits.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tsering Norphel spoke on the importance of digital detox in an era marked by increasing dependence on technology. He emphasised the need to limit excessive screen exposure, maintain a healthy balance between digital and real-life interactions, and adopt habits that support mental and physical well-being.

The programme witnessed active participation from faculty members and non-teaching staff, who engaged in discussions on nutrition, lifestyle management and wellness practices. Participants appreciated the practical insights shared during the sessions and called for more such initiatives to strengthen health awareness within educational institutions.

The event concluded with the organisers expressing gratitude to the resource persons and participants, while reaffirming their commitment to promoting a culture of health, wellness and informed lifestyle choices across the college community.
