Jammu, Aug 02: A small drone, believed to have been used for wedding photography, was discovered abandoned inside an Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, triggering a police investigation, officials reported Saturday.
Army personnel spotted the unmanned aerial vehicle near the supply depot within the Bari Brahmana cantonment late Friday night. Initial probes suggest the drone may have been deployed for a nearby marriage ceremony, veering off course before landing inside the military premises, according to officials familiar with the matter.
The device has been handed over to the local police for a detailed examination to ascertain its origin and purpose. Authorities are working to determine whether the incident was accidental or involves any security concerns, though no immediate threats have been identified.
The unexpected presence of the drone in a restricted military zone has prompted heightened vigilance in the area. Police are expected to analyze the device’s flight data and ownership records to trace its operator and confirm the circumstances of its landing. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
