Drass, Apr 04: Acting on the directions of the Additional District Magistrate, Kargil, the local administration on Friday carried out a surprise inspection in the Drass market area, leading to the seizure of nine domestic LPG cylinders being used for commercial purposes.
The inspection team, led by Naib Tehsildar Drass, Mohd Ibrahim Khan, and Tehsil Supply Officer Niyaz Ahmad, was accompanied by police personnel from Police Station Drass. The exercise focused on curbing the unauthorised use of subsidised domestic LPG cylinders in commercial establishments.
During the inspection, several tea stalls, hotels and restaurants were found violating established norms by using domestic LPG cylinders instead of commercial ones. Officials seized a total of nine cylinders from different establishments found to be in contravention of regulations.
Authorities reiterated that domestic LPG cylinders are strictly meant for household use and their diversion for commercial activities constitutes a violation of existing rules. The inspection was part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance and prevent misuse of subsidised resources.
Officials stated that the drive was conducted without any disruption and proceeded in an orderly manner. They indicated that similar inspections are likely to continue in the coming days to enforce adherence to regulations across the region.
