Srinagar, Jun 29: In a fresh administrative move aimed at improving healthcare delivery and streamlining the system, the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has issued a government order announcing the transfer and posting of over thirty medical officers across various districts. The order, dated June 29, 2025, has been issued from the Civil Secretariat in Jammu/Srinagar under the authority of Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary to the Government.
The reshuffle affects doctors from different levels, including Medical Superintendents, Block Medical Officers (BMOs), and Medical Officers awaiting orders of posting. This step has been taken in the interest of administration and patient care, and all transfers are to be implemented with immediate effect.
Among the changes, Dr. Ayesha Yasmeen Sheikh, who was serving as the Medical Superintendent of DH Kupwara, has been transferred to the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir. Similarly, Dr. Sabea Wani, who held the post of In-Charge Deputy Director, Dentistry in Kashmir, will now take over as the Medical Superintendent of DH Kupwara.
Dr. Ahsana Bano, earlier posted at SDH Kupwara, has been reassigned to the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir. Dr. Mohammad Raman Naif has moved from SDH Kupwara to GMC Handwara. Other notable reshufflings include Dr. Altaf Masoodi, who was the Principal at GNM School Pulwama, and has now been appointed as Principal at ANMT School Kulgam.
A considerable number of BMOs have also been reassigned. Dr. Reyaz Ahmad Parrey will now head the ANMT School in Shopian, while Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh has been posted as the BMO Keller. Several Medical Officers previously without postings have also been accommodated.
The department has made it clear that these transfers are temporary and subject to change depending on the outcome of writ petitions, if any, pending before the courts. Furthermore, the transfers do not affect the rights of doctors in terms of promotion, seniority, or future posting preferences.
The directive also instructs the concerned Head of Departments to submit compliance reports verifying the joining of the transferred officers.
The transfer order comes at a time when the health sector in Jammu and Kashmir continues to adapt to rising healthcare needs and administrative demands. The document notes that this move is made in the interest of the healthcare system’s functioning and aligns with the service rules of the department.
