Leh, Feb 07: In connection with the ongoing 2nd Mediation for the Nation Drive 2.0, the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Leh, who is also the Principal District and Sessions Judge, convened a review meeting on February 06 at the District Court Complex, Leh, to strengthen and streamline the mediation process in the district.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, the Special Mobile Magistrate, the Tehsildar Leh, nominated officers of the District Administration, the President of the Bar Association Leh, along with mediators and members of the Bar.
The participants reviewed the present functioning of mediation services and agreed to step up public outreach programmes to improve awareness about mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
It was decided that courts and authorities would ensure timely identification and referral of suitable cases, including civil, matrimonial, family, commercial and compoundable criminal matters, to mediation. Emphasis was also laid on maintaining proper documentation and regular reporting of mediation proceedings.
The meeting further stressed the need for structured coordination and proper scheduling of mediation sessions at the District Court, Leh, to avoid delays and to improve efficiency.
Special focus was placed on training and capacity building of mediators and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) to enhance professional standards and case handling during mediation proceedings.
While addressing the participants, the Chairman, DLSA Leh underlined the role of mediation in encouraging amicable settlement of disputes, reducing the burden of litigation and promoting harmonious relations within the community.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment by judicial officers, district administration representatives, mediators and members of the Bar to actively support and implement the objectives of the 2nd Mediation for the Nation Drive 2.0 in Leh district.
