Leh, Jan 25: A five-day capacity building training programme for Middle School Head Masters and Head Teachers concluded at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, on Friday, with a call to strengthen academic leadership across schools in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Organised by DIET Leh and implemented by GoldenMile Learning Trust, the programme was held from January 19 to 23 and also included sessions on child safety and security led by a special educator. More than 100 head teachers and school administrators from different parts of Leh district took part in the training, braving harsh winter conditions to attend the sessions.
The valedictory function was attended by Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she appreciated the efforts of DIET Leh and GoldenMile Learning Trust in conducting the programme and praised the active involvement of the participants. Taking note of the feedback shared by educators, she directed DIET Leh to make the training a regular annual exercise and suggested that similar leadership and communication programmes be extended to teachers, Zonal Education Officers and other education officials in the UT.
Earlier, Mirza Mehdi, Principal, DIET Leh, welcomed the gathering and commended the commitment shown by the participants. He also acknowledged the support of the UT Administration in promoting initiatives aimed at improving school leadership and academic practices in Ladakh.
An overview of the training was presented by Rinchen Angmo, District Supervising Officer of GoldenMile Learning. She explained that the programme was designed using need analysis, baseline and end-line assessments, reflective practices and leadership communication frameworks to support professional growth among school heads.
Sharing reflections on the programme, Dr. Neepa Oza, Programme Director and Chief Trainer, and Amol Bapat, Co-Trainer from GoldenMile Learning Trust, said the sessions were structured around contextual leadership models, experiential learning methods and local case studies, keeping in view the administrative and socio-cultural setting of Ladakh.
The programme concluded with a group photograph and the presentation of khadaks and mementoes to the dignitaries by the Principal, DIET Leh, and HOD Yangdol.
