New Delhi, Oct 1 : An alleged fraud racket involved in duping at least 46 people on the pretext of visas for Israel and Iraq, and overseas jobs, has been busted with the arrest of its ‘mastermind’ and an associate, Delhi Police said on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Abir Poilan (45), resident of West Bengal, and Mustakim (38) of Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, allegedly operated the fraud racket in the name of “Dynamic Overseas” from an office in Netaji Subhash Place, they said.

“The case came to light following a complaint received during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ (grievance redressal) initiative at Subhash Place police station on August 1.

“The accused allegedly charged Rs 1.70 lakh per person for an Israel visa and Rs 70,000 for an Iraq visa, promising employment abroad,” a senior officer said.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered. Police said technical and financial evidence was analysed to identify the accused and trace the money trail.

Poilan was arrested and, during his police custody, 31 grams of gold coins allegedly purchased with fraud proceeds were recovered from him. Nineteen passports, five mobile phones, three computers, a colour printer, payment-related documents and “Dynamic Overseas” stamps were also recovered.

The officer said they are also verifying a gold loan allegedly obtained from an NBFC (non-banking financial company) against gold purchased from the proceeds of the alleged fraud. Two gold rings, a gold chain and a pair of gold earrings allegedly mortgaged by Poilan are also being traced.

Receipts and payment records of clients are being examined to establish the complete money trail.

Two gold chains were recovered from Mustakim. Police said he was found in possession of six mobile phones, 10 ATM cards and three passports — including two belonging to Nepal citizens.

The recovered electronic devices, ATM cards, passports and financial documents are being examined to ascertain the accused persons roles, identify other associates and trace the remaining proceeds of the alleged crime.

Police said Poilan had previously been booked for fraud at Govindpuri police station in 2020, while Mustakim has no previous criminal involvement.
