New Delhi, Jan 29: A six‑year‑old girl was allegedly gang‑raped by three boys aged between 10 and 16 in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura on January 18, police said, triggering outrage and a road blockade by locals in protest.
According to police, the accused—neighbours of the victim—lured the girl to a nearby terrace while she was returning home from her aunt’s house around 7 pm, where the sexual assault allegedly took place. When she returned home, she was bleeding and her clothes were stained with blood; her family rushed her to a police station and then to a hospital, where she is now reported to be stable.
A case has been registered under the POCSO Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita; two of the minors have been apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, while the third, reportedly 14 years old, fled to Bihar and is being traced. The incident has sparked demands for stronger child‑protection measures and raised questions over how juvenile offenders are dealt with in such heinous crimes.
