NEW DELHI JAN 13: The Delhi High Court listed for May 8 the Enforcement Directorate’s challenge to the trial court’s bail granted to former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy money laundering case.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma directed the trial court records to be summoned, after Kejriwal’s counsel sought adjournment due to senior advocate’s unavailability. The court noted the late hour, ruling out passover.
Kejriwal received trial court bail on June 20, 2024 (Rs 1 lakh bond), stayed by the High Court. The Supreme Court granted interim bail on July 12, 2024, referring PMLA arrest legality questions to a larger bench. ED and CBI arrested him on March 21 and June 26, 2024, respectively, over alleged irregularities favouring licence holders in the scrapped 2022 policy.
