KHALTSE: Deputy Commissioner Sham, Kunzes Angmo, JKAS, on Saturday directed departments and executing agencies to accelerate work on several major infrastructure and development projects across the district, stressing timely completion, inter-departmental coordination and strict adherence to quality standards during a high-level review meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The review focused on a cluster of projects considered crucial for improving connectivity, irrigation infrastructure and socio-economic development in the district, including the Dha-Hanu development projects, the Fotola Tunnel on National Highway-1 between Km 290 and Km 301, the proposed two-lane highway from Handangbrok to Zingpal, and the Solar Water Lifting System for irrigation at Patsa Thang in Khaltse.
Senior officials and representatives of executing agencies presented detailed updates on the physical and financial progress of the projects, outlining milestones achieved, implementation challenges and targeted completion schedules.
Taking stock of the progress, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the need to remove bottlenecks delaying execution and called for closer coordination among stakeholder departments to ensure that project timelines are met. She emphasised that infrastructure initiatives of this scale have a direct bearing on public welfare and economic activity, particularly in remote and geographically challenging areas.
Angmo observed that improved road connectivity and irrigation facilities remain critical to enhancing access to services, supporting local livelihoods and strengthening developmental outcomes across the district. She also stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and field-level supervision to ensure that projects are executed efficiently and that their benefits reach the intended beneficiaries without unnecessary delay.
The meeting further reviewed the status of ongoing works, resource utilisation and administrative requirements associated with project implementation, with officials discussing measures to address operational challenges and maintain momentum on priority schemes.
