KHALTSE: Deputy Commissioner Sham, Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), on Thursday assured residents that genuine public grievances and developmental concerns would be addressed on priority as she conducted an extensive tour of several villages across the district to review infrastructure projects, public services and welfare initiatives at the grassroots level.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected ongoing developmental works in Hanu Thang, Hanu Gongma, Hanu Yokma, Beema, Dha, Garkhon and Darchiks, interacting with local residents to obtain first-hand feedback on issues affecting their daily lives and the developmental requirements of their villages.
She directed the concerned departments to expedite pending works and ensure their timely completion, while assuring villagers that issues requiring intervention beyond the district level would be taken up with the appropriate authorities.
Accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Khaltse Mohd. Sharif, Naib Tehsildar Skurbuchan Abdul Samad, Executive Engineer R&B Division Khaltse Ghulam Abbas, Block Medical Officer Khaltse Dr. Javed Ahmad, Block Development Officers Pankaj Rajput and Shokat Ahmad, and Zonal Education Officer Khaltse Nawang Namgail, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of various public infrastructure and service delivery mechanisms during the tour.
As part of the inspection, she visited the Solid Waste Management Centre at Skurbuchan and assessed its functioning, with a focus on waste management practices and operational efficiency.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected Government Middle School Hanu Khas Khas and Government High School Hanu Yokma, where she reviewed academic activities and interacted with students and teaching staff. In addition, she visited the Medical Sub-Centre at Hanu Gongma and the NTPHC at Hanu Yokma to evaluate healthcare facilities available to local residents.
At Hanu Yokma, Kunzes Angmo inaugurated a plantation drive by planting saplings within the Community Hall premises. She underscored the importance of environmental conservation and encouraged greater community participation in afforestation and greening initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner received a traditional welcome from residents across the villages visited, reflecting the region’s cultural traditions and hospitality. During the tour, she was also welcomed by Nominated Councillor Rigzin Gurmet and BDO Sodh Shokat Ahmad.
The visit formed part of the district administration’s outreach efforts aimed at monitoring developmental activities on the ground, strengthening engagement with local communities and ensuring that government programmes effectively reach people in remote areas of Sham district.
